Let me put something out there for everyone to swallow during this holiday weekend. Mind you, this is petty in comparison to all the other wrong that is out in the world, but I wanted to write about it anyway.

So the holiday started out good, I went to pick Matthew up at 9 am this morning for the day of the bird. This year was my year to have him on the day of Thanksgiving. The time frame that I am to have him is from 9 am on Thursday to 9 am on Friday. This is good with me. What is not is that Friday also marks the beginning of my weekend to have Matthew, which starts at 7 pm. Logically I would just pick Matt up on Thursday morning and return him after the weekend on Sunday night. I say logically because it is about a 1 hour drive one way and that drive puts us through one of the busiest interchanges in the nation I-70 and I-75. Going through this intersection around 8:30 am on Black Friday when road conditions may be slick, what an outrage. That, on top of the fact that I am picking him back up at 7:00 pm the same day for the weekend. 1 hour drive down in the morning, 1 hour drive back, 1 hour drive down in the evening 1 hour drive back. What a misuse of time, both his and ours to make the trip. His mother will be at work on Friday, she will not even be around to see him the better portion of the day. She has her thing now, everything by what the paperwork says. The paperwork being Shelby County Rule 22, which serves as a guideline for MINUMUM requirements she has to abide by, but she takes this as law for the maximum as well. I am sure she does not care that this wastes gas for us, why should she. But, as posted in a previous blog, wasted gas impacts more than just the pockets of those wasting it, but the overall supply, you as well.

With that said, I want to hear your opinion on the whole matter. Am I just being over-reactive? Should I just suck it up and move on? Am I and everyone around me wrong for thinking that his mother is wrong in her behavior? Post a comment here and tell me, if you think she is outrageous say so and tell me why.
